Islamic calligraphy (or Arabic calligraphy) may be
centuries old, but when Malaysian artist Husin Hourmain injects modernity into
this unique form of art, you can expect visually arresting and mind-stimulating
artworks.
If you have yet to be in the presence of Husin’s
masterpieces, you should definitely make a trip to his upcoming solo art
exhibition titled “Awal Hurouf Asal Hurouf” at White Space, Publika Solaris
Hartamas from 9 to 20 March 2013.
The exhibition will showcase 30 pieces of Husin’s
latest work – all of which are contemporary interpretations of Islamic
calligraphy art. As there are 30 Jawi alphabets, and it took Husin more than 3
years for him to produce the whole collection which seamlessly integrates art
and culture.
