Ikal Mayang, an International Women’s Day film project by Women:girls


Tomorrow Friday it’s all about girl power! March 8 marks the occasion of International Women’s Day, where we honour and celebrate women and girls around the world.




To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, Women:girls, a local platform to inspire and empower women and girls to realize their dreams will be premiering a short film project Ikal Mayang on 8 March 2013.

Ikal Mayang. 15 women directors. 15 women stories.
Ikal Mayang features a series of 15 beautifully told stories on women and girls by non-traditional female directors, namely Datin Sofia Jane, Nanu Baharudin, Sharifah Amani, Elaine Daly, Fauziah Nawi, Mislina Mustaffa, Vanidah Imran, Aida Fitri, Carmen Soo, Junad Md Nor, Shamaine Othman, Dira Abu Zahar, Susan Lankester, Melissa Saila and Ida Nerina.

In Ikal Mayang the women stories are of assorted genres, from mockumentary to romantic comedy to drama.  Go on a movie date this International Women’s Day with your wife / fiancée / girlfriend / girl friends / mom / sister(s) / female colleagues and check out Ikal Mayang in major theatres.
