MyCreative Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (MyCreative) is pleased to announce the launch of ‘The Publishers’, a specially-tailored pitching for the publication industry. Each successful applicant shall be qualified to apply for loans with MyCreative for up to RM1 million.
‘The Publishers’ is established in the belief that literature has a profound impact on our lives. Great books transport readers, illuminate their values, and bring meaning and context to their lives. Simply said, literature is the carrier of civilisation. Nevertheless, the literature industry is now struggling to connect great writers to readers due to the challenging current marketplace for literature.
“Given today’s economic challenges, publishers large and small are looking harder than ever for innovative approaches to getting books into readers’ hands,” said Johan, the Chief Executive Officer of MyCreative. “We believe that by providing financial support to the potential publishers, we can help support, promote and sustain literature,” added Johan. Previously, MyCreative has organised ‘Writers Unleashed’ competition in 2014 to help young and upcoming writers to publish their books.
This year we are trying a different approach by engaging the Publishers directly. ‘The Publishers’ is open to publishers in all genres with two to three years of publishing experience. The publishing company must be a sole proprietorship or private limited company (Sdn. Bhd.) with at least 51% Malaysian ownership. The closing date will be 31 May 2015.
Publishers may proceed to download the application forms from www.mycreative.com.my and email their proposals and application forms to thepublishers@mycreative.com.my. Applicants will be judged based on literary merit and marketing potential of their businesses.
