Physical Comedy Workshop for Hospital Clowns by Hilary Chaplain

Persatuan Penghibur Kanak-kanak Buih Merah KL & Selangor or Red Bubbles is a registered non-profit organisation (2095-11-WKL) under Registrar of Societies. Red Bubbles was founded in 2011 in order to bring smiles, laughter and hope to the children in the hospitals and other healthcare settings through regular clowning visits. Among the initiatives of Red Bubbles are clowning visits, children ward library project and writing and publishing children picture books for fundraising.

The objective of Red Bubbles in organizing ‘Physical Comedy for Hospital Clown’ Workshop is to equip current Red Bubbles clowns with essential physical comedy skills required in their professional work. Besides, the workshop also aims to train more volunteers who are interested to become a hospital clowns with physical comedy skills.

The workshop will enable Red Bubbles to train 15-20 aspiring hospital clowns with essential physical comedy skills required for them to work effectively in the hospital environment. This will help Red Bubbles to form a strong team of hospital clowns who can dedicate their time and energy to cheer up kid patients in hospitals on regular basis. The additional new team members for Red Bubbles will also help expand their regular hospital clowning visits to other hospitals.

Who is Hilary Chaplain?
Hilary Chaplain is recognised as one of America’s foremost professional physical comediennes, performing her original solo and ensemble work for over a decade throughout the United States of America, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. Uncovering the humour in everyday life, Hilary’s extraordinary work has won accolades worldwide. She is also a founding member of the New York Goofs appearing with them in prestigious New York venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Medora Musical and on tour at Wolf Trap with Bob McGrath from Sesame Street.
